APC BatchMap provides a unique visual display of your daily batch job activities. This Java application enables you to examine batch performance problems in the most targeted way and to analyze and evaluate them on a PC even after they have occurred.

The overview screen (image 1) shows hourly LPAR activity in your sysplex. The intuitive colours green (low), yellow (medium) and red (high) indicate the relative spread of workload across your sysplex. A red LPAR hour is one performance analysts might want to look at in more detail and they can do so by clicking on the respective square.

The main display (image 2) shows all batch activities of the selected LPAR and hour. Jobs are represented by coloured bars. For example, red bars show jobs that have exceeded their APC historical averages for a chosen resource. The length of the bar indicates how long a job was running.

This screen also shows how many jobs were active at the same time at a given hour. This supports capacity planners in deciding when critical paths should be started in order to avoid bottlenecks.

APC BatchMap can also highlight critical path jobs allowing an analyst to easily investigate the jobs of most importance.

APC BatchMap helps you quickly identify which jobs have caused problems at which point in time and for which reason (CPU consumption / runtime) and if the performance of the jobs has changed.

  • shows hourly LPAR activity in your sysplex
  • intuitive colours assess current resource consumption compared to a job's average consumption
  • the main display shows how many jobs were running at the same time
  • the step dialogue screen provides detailed information on the steps of a job and historical averages
  • the statistical data from the APC repository are the basis for assessing and comparing the current consumption
  • See at one glance which jobs have created problems, and start with targeted performance analyses.

APC BatchMap - a unique visual display of your batch job performance!

APC BatchMap can only be used together with APC. APC continuously monitors your mainframe environment, triggers TriTune measurements for detailed performance profiles and detects your overall tuning potential. In this process, APC creates and manages statistical information on each batch job in its own historical repository.
